Tempest was formed directly from the posed figure of Colorado Ballet dancer Emily Speed. My intention was to visually merge a human figure with a powerful element of nature–wind. I also wanted to convey a magical sense of human flight ala Cirque du Soleil. Tempest's bronze-like appearance is highlighted with touches of reflective iridescent colors that seemingly flash when viewed from different angles. Tempest’s appearance also transforms with changes in natural or projected light. It’s wired to be hung horizontally or vertically so you can change it up, perhaps as the seasons change.
