What Is A Figurative Fabric Sculpture?

Figurative Fabric Sculptures are lightweight, fabric-formed sculptures molded directly from a live model’s body. The draped, quick-hardened fabric is highlighted with a variety of paints and glazes.

What Is A Figurative Fabric Maternity Belly Sculpture?

Carla looking at Sculpture copy.JPG

My maternity belly sculpture is a three-dimensional sculpture of a pregnant woman’s torso that serves as a keepsake of her pregnancy. Using my Figurative Fabric Sculpture process my sculptures take traditional maternity belly “castings to a level far beyond what’s been available in the past.

With Figurative Fabric Sculptures, the belly sculpting process involves artfully draping the mother-to-be in a special fabric. Once the fabric has quickly hardened (15–30 minutes), the belly casting is carefully lifted off, and then painted and glazed.

The result is a spectacular, lightweight, three-dimensional sculpture of the mother-to-be’s torso (shoulder through hips) that resembles a stone or metal sculpture but can be easily lifted and mounted to a wall.

How Much Do Figurative Fabric Sculpture Maternity Belly Casts Cost?

Figurative Fabric Sculpture Maternity Belly Sculptures start at $950, for the casting process plus adding color & accent to the sculpture.

Base Price Painting Options include:

  • Standard design - as shown above.

  • Two-tone - The belly sculpture is accented with soft light and dark tones.

  • Metallic - The belly sculpture is painted with the choice of alabaster or metallic gold, silver, bronze, or copper paint.

Custom painted Figures in Fabric Sculpture Maternity Belly Casts are priced at $1,495.

PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION

Carla in relaxed pose sm.jpeg

Enjoy a private, one-hour sculpting session with me in my studio. Companions are welcome to attend. Children must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

We’ll start by looking at sculpture examples and answering questions. Then, you’ll pose with or without clothing, or wear under-garments. If you choose to wear clothing, I recommend wearing snug-fitting, stretchy fabric void of attached decorations or prominent seams. You’ll hold a comfortable pose for 15–30 minutes while resting on a padded floor. After I promptly remove your hardened sculpture, you can see its splendid form! Before leaving, you’ll select the paint color for your piece.

All sessions are offered at my studio in Prism Workspaces, 999 Vallejo Street, Unit 2, Studio 31, Denver, Colorado. Free parking is available in front of the building.

“Maternity belly casts using my Figures in Fabric Sculpture process serve as a special keepsake of a family’s pregnancy journey. I have always enjoyed creating art of, with, and for people. This unique art form combines three elements that I love: working with people, sculpting, and painting.” – Artist Gina Klawitter
